Day 7 - Hometown Lancashire

Day 7 (Friday 23) - Lancashire, Home Country

We made an early start this morning to fit in the miles and factor in a trip home for a few hours.

Our way from Warrington to Leyland was up and down and we again made use of our navigation skills and ended up a little too westerly from where we should have been. The country roads were good though. After leaving Leyland, it was pretty flat back to the Fylde coast, taking advantage of the Preston Guild Wheel route to benefit from the zero traffic.

Plus of course we knew where we were going!

Going back to Paul's house gave us the opportunity to have a few hours just relaxing in familiar surroundings and eating plenty.

(and did they... Just going to say Lemon & Poppy seed Cake - GONE! not even the dog got any!)

Paul even got time to slip on his slippers!

We then headed on 30 miles to Carnforth via Garstang and Lancaster.

Day 7 - Today's figures:
Time 4hrs 08mins

60.98miles (To Thornton only)
Elevation gained 493
Avg speed 14.7
Top Speed 40.7 (wow!)

It was getting dark and our lights did not give us too much confidence that we could be seen.

That night we stayed with Paul's parents. It was so nice to be sleeping in a bed for a change.

Just a reminder...
As this is what we are doing it for... Please don't forget to pledge your donations of support. If you could only give 1p a mile for the 1050 miles we are doing it's £10.50 into the pot we are trying to raise - Help stop Cancer! Simply go to justgiving to leave your donation.

Just one of the few 'Downhills'
