Day 1 - Cornwall

Look at the Weather!

Day 1 (Saturday 17) - Land's End

We set off at around 10am to a miserable, windy and rainy start.

Even though we had our waterproofs on, we were totally soaked within 15 minutes. What we didn't know at this point was we would not be dry again until 8pm.

Our Cornwall leg took us from Sennen and the Seaview Holiday Park (through and past);
St Buryan
Mousehole (No jokes please!) along the coast through...
Newlyn
Penzance
Stithians
Ponsanooth
Devoran and along the Restronguet Creek...
Penpol and across River Fal...
Sticker
Trelowth
Polgooth
Trewhiddle
Tywardreath
Lostwithel and finally we stopped just outside...
Bridgend

A few hills and the wind generally behind us. We were due to do about 70+ miles but did a slight 10 mile detour at the end as we headed for the wrong campsite! You can imagine how pleased we were!

Two paper maps, a bike GPS and two smart phones and still got a little lost... We did have excuses though... with such downpours one of our smart phones got so wet it died, the GPS stopped working and our paper maps were simply mush!

Note to self - find something more waterproof for the gadgets!

Just a reminder...
As this is what we are doing it for... Please don't forget to pledge your donations of support. If you could only give 1p a mile for the 1050 miles we are doing it's £10.50 into the pot we are trying to raise - Help stop Cancer! Simply go to justgiving to leave your donation.
