Day 4 - England & Wales

Day 4 (Tuesday 20) - The Severn Bridge

Severn Bridge - The Cycle Lane
Looking at the map for the day's ride seemed like we were in for a bit of a dull day.

Mainly 'A' roads and only a small amount of country lanes.

Day 4 - Today's figures:
Time 5hrs 09mins

66.29miles
Elevation gained1391
Avg speed 12.9
Top Speed 29.3

However, it ended up being the best day yet. The beginning wasn't great, busy roads and a hair raising junction crossing the motorway.

When we pulled in to check the map, a guy who had ridden LEJOG previously sponsored us, nice chap (oh and Thank you!).

When we reached the Severn Bridge though, wow. We went over the original bridge, with a separate cycle lane. The bridge shook every time a heavy vehicle passed but we assumed that was normal.

Crossing the border into Wales, we stopped for something to eat in Chepstow then continued our journey along the A466 following the river Wye. What a fantastic 'A' road.

The views were fantastic and the road itself was relatively quiet and a lot of downhill sections.

Reaching Monmouth we stopped for coffee and cake, another great place.

The final leg was brilliant country roads although quite a steep climb at the end of the day. It was worth it for the location of the campsite.

Just a reminder...
As this is what we are doing it for... Please don't forget to pledge your donations of support. If you could only give 1p a mile for the 1050 miles we are doing it's £10.50 into the pot we are trying to raise - Help stop Cancer! Simply go to justgiving to leave your donation.

Here's hoping tomorrow is similar!

Ready for the 'Off'!

Crossing into Wales Again!
